PROJECT NAME: HIV AIDS PREVENTION, GENDER BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

GOAL:

FUNDER: POPSEC/ UNFPA

OBJECTIVES

  1. Increase awareness about HIV/SRH Rights among the born again Christians
  2. Identify and train Church activists against GBV in church
  3. Increase knowledge of GBV prevention services in and out of the church
  4. Disseminating information to the people about the different health concerns
  5. To provide on spot services like HCT, family planning
  6. Providing health information and advice to community members
  7. Raising awareness on the different health concerns to be later addressed by the community members
  8. Increase awareness about HIV/SRH Rights among the leaders of the Born Again Christians
  9. Increase knowledge of GBV prevention services in and out of the church

MAIN ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED

1. ACTIVITY

TRAINING HANDBOOK DISSEMINATION

The training was guided by an overall goal of disseminating the training hand book to the leaders of the born again faith in Uganda. Specifically the meeting aimed at  disseminating the hand book to the leaders of the Born Again Faith from the districts of Gulu, Bundibugyo  and Mubende, to establish how best the hand book will be used by the leaders/pastors in their respective areas of ministry, to identify and orient 6 leaders from the 3 districts who will be responsible for conducting the  community dialogues

2. ACTIVITY

Support BAFFE leaders at district level (Men, women ministries, Home cells, married and praise and worship groups in Bundibugyo, Mubende and Gulu districts to undertake community dialogues for Family planning, maternal health, HIV and fight against GBV and teenage pregnancy using the Hand book on SRH and gender rights.

Public and Civil society sectors capacity for Gender Based Violence Prevention 

And management strengthened

Sub Output 5.2: District based alliances capacity to advocate for gender and reproductive rights issues strengthened

3. ACTIVITY

Train Heads of Department in GBV prevention, and advancement of reproductive rights in Masaka district,Moroto,Gulu,Mubende,Bundibugyo

Public and civil society sectors’ capacity for Gender-Based Violence prevention and management and advancement of Reproductive Rights is strengthened.
